Is a fact or statistic or It is raw facts(Alpha or numeric).
Operate the data and derive meaningful information.
Can't derive the conclusion without processing the data.

Ex:
Future Focus InfoTech, Offered me as on 31st March , 2011.
Size: 10x10 or 42 or XL or 50,000 employees
Banking employees for Axis bank, It is Global Banking Company.

Why is Data important ?
- Data is important because every decision that happen in the world
is based on some data.
* Jemmy want to buy laptop.
He collected data of laptop devices , prices and models in market and taken the
decision.
* Japan Tsunami and Earth quick Disaster - what is the Lesson on NUKE
resources?
* 2G Spectrum plan ?
- What data collected as Indian Govt and wht decision its taken?
* WikiLeaks - collected data from Swiss bank and what is the role of that data in
Indian political system ?

way to organize the data.
What is a Database?

Data base is a collection of interrelated data.
- Student Data in University : Contains - RollNum, Names, GPA/%
- Zoo Data base : RFID tag Number, Name, Weight, age and Family
- Company Data base : EMPID, NAME, DEPT,DESIGNATION,Payroll details, Personal details

We can't use just text files or word docs.

In a system user may use different applications and those may use different formats of data.

files may be corrupted due to system failures.
4) Concurrent access anomalies
5) Security problem
